The Function of My Art
Artistic expression has long been therapeutic for me. Art has helped me get through trauma, tragedy, depression, anxiety, and much more adversity. While I have sold much of my art to collectors it does not serve as my primary form of income. Nor do I believe that arts value is derived from the price others pay for it. Art is an extension of myself, my personality, my feelings, interests, insecurities, joy, and experimentation. Many of my art pieces are experiential installations that require 4-6 projectors. For NFTs I typically focus on creating short hand drawn animations, and other mixed media still images. I am not of the mind that mass produced generative art like Bored Ape Yacht Club is art at all. At best it is modern pop-art, at worst it is a scam and is manipulated by people like Machi. It has no value and I do not recommend investing in that type of NFT art work. I try to pair my NFTs with things that are tangible, inclusive of merch, stickers, real world assets.
Social Communities and Social Media Development
I consider myself to be highly social media savvy and during the Pandemic Shutdown I took the time to build a place for people to digitally congregate and share memes. The tone of the world at the time was dark and so many of the memes have a black humor bent.
